ZERO WASTE PRACTICE
TIF-HELEXPO S.A. has adopted the ZERO WASTE initiative, aiming for this effort to accompany all its exhibition and cultural events, gradually reducing non-recyclable (non-reusable) waste with the ultimate goal of its complete minimization.
The Zero Waste practice was first implemented in September 2023 at the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and has since been applied to all the company’s events, with measurable annual results, reducing non-recyclable materials by up to 20% and collecting organic waste in brown bins.
Reasons for Adopting the Zero Waste Initiative:
- Compliance with European Environmental Policy regulations and targets.
- Reduction of the company’s environmental impact and carbon footprint while simultaneously increasing operational efficiency.
- Promotion of Sustainability.
- Establishment of a framework for future actions in all areas of the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy.

Implementation Process
To ensure proper waste collection, clearly marked collection bins (Zero Waste Points) are placed at designated locations throughout the exhibition venue (building entrances, food stands, parking areas, etc.) for public convenience.
Depending on the specific venue hosting each exhibition, the following steps are followed:
- Before the Event
- Selection of suitable locations to serve as Zero Waste Points.
- Effective communication with exhibitors and attendees.
- During the Event
- Specialized personnel are stationed at Zero Waste Points, informing visitors and exhibitors about the correct disposal of waste.
- After the Event
- The total amount of collected waste is weighed, and the results are shared to provide comparable data for future events.
Successful implementation of the ZERO WASTE practice requires the cooperation of all!
